What is CALSEC® ?

CALSEC® is a powerful desiccant based on high purity and fineness calcium oxide.

Its particle size permits to guarantee a maximum efficiency.

It is used to control porosity during processing and vulcanisation of rubber and plastics

CALSEC® is useful each time the mix are vulcanised at atmospheric pressure, for instance in continuous vulcanisation of rubber, in mastics and adhesives treated by heat.

CALSEC® is used either in the natural rubber or in synthetic rubbers.

Typical problems solved with CALSEC® :

  • Porosity in extruded materials
  • Porosity in moulded products
  • Surface defect in calendered rubber
  • Uncontrolled foaming in cellular products
  • Loss in physical properties

CALSEC® can be used in the extruded and vulcanised mix in continuous processes. In normal use, the minimum porosity will be obtained when using 6 to 10 parts of CALSEC® for 100 parts of rubber. The active material, calcium oxide, absorbs around 32% of its own weight of water.
